Agriculture Minister Stresses 'Thorough' Review of Beef

Seoul's Agriculture Minister Park Hong-soo said it's important the U.S. beef quarantine issue be "thoroughly" reviewed.

Minister Park told reporters Monday that while a "reasonable resolution" approach makes sense for certain goods when it comes to agriculture, a quarantine must be thorough.

He added that beef and quarantine experts from Korea and the U.S. will meet next month to try and resolve their differing interpretations of boneless beef.

Four and a half tons of U.S. beef has arrived in Korea, more than three years after the government banned American beef over a case of mad cow disease.

Officials add if the imported beef passes inspection, it should reach store shelves by late May.
